Association of the Blind in Cambodia (ABC)

ABC is set up to assist blind or visually impaired people in Cambodia through increased capacity of skills, training, socialization, ability and knowledge with the aim of enabling them to add value to their individual lives.

In Kampot, school integration of blind children takes place at the Savaan Saar Goa Primary School every Sunday, with student lessons (including Braille literacy) in the mornings. Training massage in the evenings is by Seeing Hands 5 Massage.

Seeing Hands 5 Massage

Seeing Hands 5 is a program of ABC offering training and employment to the blind and visually impaired. All income from massages at the clinic go directly to the blind massage therapists.

Teach English to massage therapists

Feel free to set aside an hour a day to pop into Seeing Hands 5 Massage to practice English lessons with the therapists. They are very keen to learn more English in both conversationally and professionally relevant contexts. Particularly useful are play and song methods of teaching to help young visually impaired or blind therapists become more confident and proficient with customers. This is a challenging but very rewarding experience you will never forget.

Where: Upstairs Seeing Hands 5 Massage.

When: by appointment (usually mid-afternoons are best).

ABC Children's Centre

18 visually impaired children live in the ABC Children's Centre. They learn Braille in the afternoons so mornings are free to learn or play music, sing, dance, play football (the football has a bell in it) or any other interactive games and activities.

Any donations of spare musical instruments would be enormously appreciated.

Where: just off the Kep road (turn right 200m after the CPP office).

When: Anytime in the mornings.
