Daem Po Village

Visit or stay in a cambodian village.

See for yourself how villagers improve living conditions and where they get together to conduct different projects, mainly with their own resources.

Possible activities

  • Discover rural life: A village committee will be happy to show you around the village, to see or participate in daily activities of the farmers, such as rice transplanting, harvesting or cake making.
  • Have breakfast, lunch or dinner with the villagers: You are welcome to join them with their usual meals.
  • Enjoy local products such as fruit, cakes and drinks (coconut juice, sugar palm juice or rice wine in dry season)
  • Learn about village projects: how profits of the development program are used, for example how a rice bank works.
  • Climb Phnom Sra Mach: A mountain with two painted pagodas on top reached by climbing the 288 steps.

Daily visit - no fee is fixed, of course the committee hopes you to cover expenses of food and drinks and make a small remuneration for the committee members (recommended minimum $2 pp). Spending the night - to cover the expenses of dinner, breakfast and spending the night, $15 is requested. The committee keeps proper accounting of all income and expenses so any benefits are reinvested into the village development.

Where: Daem Po village is between Kampot and Phnom Penh on road no 3. Coming from Kampot (60km), pass Chhouk and about 15km further just after an iron bridge, take a right into Daem Po.
