Recycled Plastic Bag Product Development Project

Hands - Recycled Plastic Bag Product Research & Design Project. (Epic Arts / Ruth Yoffe / Carpe Diem) The aim of the 3-month project is to develop an opportunity for a sustainable source of income and raise the esteem of the disabled community. As Design Director I am investigating techniques and teaching skill that can be utilzed in product designs made with recylcled plastic bags. I am happy to report the results of the last 2 months are showing incredible promise, not only the work produced but also the level of esteem being acquired by those discovering new skills and creating something beautiful out of garbage!

It is a project that has the potential to be applied around the world. This will take resources & development time. The level of outside interest is very encouraging. A small-scale project such as this one, done well with due consideration may provide future potential for sustainable income for those that desperately need it.

The other day a Khmer tour guide heard in his village of this project and the enthusiasm for it and asked me... "are you the lady teaching how to make beautiful things from bags? This is what we need, we need to clean up this country".

This Research & Development phase is under the independent name Hands (it is a working name in reference to the Hands that collect the bags, the sign hands of the deaf who produce the yarn, the hands of the artisans and finally the hands that purchases).
