Pure Kampot Pepper - not to be sneezed at

Peppercorns from Kampot province have an excellent reputation for quality. This southern Cambodian crop is still sought after for its intense taste and pungency. Peppercorn vines are trained to grow up tall deadwood posts and are mature enough to bear substantial fruit after three years. Harvesting usually begins in February and continues through to April.

Small farmers in the Kampot region and Kep Municipality have several generations of experience in pepper farming and produce the highest quality pepper using a combination of traditional and more modern methods.

Kampot Pepper Farmer's Association is a small co-operative developed to help unite peppercorn growers, offer consultation to help manage and improve cultivation and production efficacy and provide fair trade opportunities for finest quality pepper in the domestic marketplace.

FarmLink is helping industry development and marketing on these local and national levels. Kampot pepper will also be the first Cambodian product to apply for Geographical Indication protection - protecting territorial brands for the benefit of rural producers.

'Pure Kampot Pepper' is being sold locally in bulk or in Cambodian raw silk packages available for sale at Blissful Guesthouse, Epic Arts Cafe, Rikitikitavi, Jasmine, Bokor Mountain Lodge and Little Garden Bar.
