Visit Wat Chamcar Bei

Fancy an afternoon dar-laing?

One awe-inspiring view in this area of Cambodia is from a mountain in Phnom Vor overlooking the small village of Chamcar Bei, located about 40 minutes east of Kampot town on the Kampong Trach road.

An amazing panorama awaits you at the top. You can see in every direction - hills, ocean and small islands, pepper and fruit plantations, villages, and the karst formation which is the site of many caves.

A small Buddhist Wat at the very top of the mountain has five very young monks in residence who are attempting to work with the village. They are struggling to learn English and are always delighted to receive visitors.

Consider an exploration trip to the countryside to visit the Wat — it’s an amazing view and you’ll be very welcome (see map below for directions).
